Linear Weigher Punnets Packing Machine

A small-fruit punnet packing line built around a linear weigher with 4, 8 or 12 weighing heads: weighed portions drop into punnets and the collecting conveyor presses and closes every lid. The picking belt infeed and automatic punnet dispenser are optional modules.

Configurations

One punnet packing line, three head counts. The weigher and the collecting, lid-closing conveyor form the core; the picking belt conveyor and automatic punnet dispenser are optional modules. The two faster configurations are detailed below.

  • 4-Head Linear Weigher
  • 8-Head Linear Weigher
  • 12-Head Linear Weigher

Applications

  • Small fruit under 40 mm: blueberries, cherry tomatoes, lychees, longans, walnuts, jujubes, apricots and kumquats
  • Filling, weighing and automatic packing
  • Punnet, clamshell and small-tray packing
  • Weighing before sealing and labeling

Features

  • Combination weighing, low giveawayWeighing heads combine to hit the target weight with minimal giveaway — quantitative fixed-weight weighing.
  • Punnet-ready outputWeighed portions discharge into punnets ready for sealing and labeling.
  • Adjustable target weightsTarget weight is set from the panel; standard and custom ranges are supported.
  • Optional hands-free modulesThe weighing and lid-closing core runs on its own; add the automatic punnet dispenser and picking belt conveyor for a fully automatic line.

Structures

8-Head vs 12-Head

8-Head Linear Weigher

The 8-head machine weighs portions of small, relatively uniform fruit up to 40 mm — berries and cherry tomatoes — at 20–30 packs per minute. Like every head count, it ends at the collecting conveyor, which presses and closes each punnet; the picking belt infeed and automatic punnet dispenser can be added or left out.

All head counts: quantitative fixed-weight linear weighing; target weight 125–1,000 g set from the control panel, larger packs custom-built.

12-Head Linear Weigher

The 12-head machine runs small fruit under 40 mm — blueberries are the reference application — at 45–60 packs per minute, with portions from 125 g to 1,000 g (larger packs are custom-built). It is typically ordered as the full line: picking belt infeed, automatic punnet dispenser and the collecting, lid-closing conveyor, for 110 × 110 and 125 × 125 mm punnet formats.

Core line: 12-head weigher with collecting, lid-closing conveyor — 10 kW when fitted with the optional picking belt infeed and automatic punnet dispenser. Actual speed and accuracy depend on the material.

Working Process

  1. Feed

Fruit reaches the weigher from an infeed conveyor — or from the optional picking belt conveyor, where staff inspect product while it feeds.

  2. Weigh

The linear weigher distributes product across its 4, 8 or 12 channels and releases the combination closest to the target weight.

  3. Punnet in place

With the optional automatic dispenser, an empty punnet drops under the discharge by itself; without it, the punnet is placed at the filling point.

  4. Fill, press and close

The weighed portion drops into the punnet; the collecting conveyor presses the lid closed and hands sealed punnets to labeling.

FAQ

Which head count do I need?

The 4-head version covers low-capacity packing (details on request), the 8-head machine handles small fruit under 40 mm at 20–30 packs/min, and the 12-head line runs the same small fruit — blueberries are the reference — at 45–60 packs/min. Both weigh 125–1,000 g portions; larger packs are custom-built. Share your fruit, target weight and hourly output and we will match the head count.

Do I need the picking belt and punnet dispenser?

No — the weigher and the collecting, lid-closing conveyor run as the core line on their own. The picking belt conveyor adds inline inspection before weighing, and the automatic punnet dispenser drops empty punnets without an operator; both modules are ordered to match your labor and automation level.

Which punnet sizes does the 12-head line handle?

Reference formats are 110 × 110 × 35–40 mm and 125 × 125 × 30–35 mm clamshells; other sizes are discussed before production.

Which products suit a linear weigher?

Linear weighers suit small, relatively uniform items under 40 mm — blueberries, cherry tomatoes, lychees, longans, walnuts, jujubes, apricots and kumquats. Larger or sticky products may suit a different weighing principle.
